Accepting applications for AFW Samuel H. Smith Leadership Award

The Samuel H. Smith Leadership Award was established in 2000 to recognize President Emeritus Samuel H. Smith for his leadership in advancing the role of women at Washington State University. The award honors members of the Association for Faculty Women (AFW) who demonstrate similar leadership and commitment.

Award criteria

The recipient of the award shall be an AFW member who has:

  • Advanced the role of women within the Washington State University system, and/or
  • Demonstrated outstanding leadership in higher education, the community, or their profession at the local, state, regional, national, or international level.

Nominations should include the following:

  • A statement (up to 750 words) describing the nominee’s contributions in relation to the award criteria.
  • The nominee’s current Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  • Optional: Letters of support (welcome but not required).

Please compile all materials into a single PDF file. Both active and emeritus AFW members are eligible for nomination.
