WSU email online archive expands to additional mailboxes

Beginning Oct. 8, Information Technology Services (ITS) will begin automatically moving emails older than six months from university shared, room, and equipment mailboxes into an online archive within Outlook.

This cloud-based archive will update daily and remain accessible to all users with mailbox access. Users will be able to access the online archive across Outlook for Windows, Mac, Web, iOS, and Android.

Outlook will display the new online archive alongside existing mailbox folders. The online archive will mirror the original folder structure and organize emails as they were originally filed in the shared, room, or equipment mailboxes.

Outlook may take up to 30 days to populate the new online archive and complete the transfer of older emails. During this time, users will continue to have uninterrupted access to all emails in the primary mailbox.

This change builds on the existing online archive process already in place for individual WSU faculty, staff, and student accounts.

ITS published video tutorials and a resource page on the WSU Knowledge Base to assist with accessing the online archive. For additional support, please contact Crimson Service Desk at crimsonservicedesk@wsu.edu or 509-335-4357.
