Fight food insecurity on your campus and help WSU win the Apple Cup Food Pantry Challenge

The WSU/UW Apple Cup Food Pantry Challenge is back! From now until midnight, Sept. 20, Cougar fans everywhere have an opportunity to donate in support of food pantries across the WSU system. It is a friendly competition with the University of Washington to see which school can raise the most money for its food pantries.

During the Apple Cup Food Pantry Challenge’s inaugural year in 2024, WSU easily came out on top raising $17,000 of the almost $20,000 total raised by both universities. Let’s keep the momentum going.

With two out of five college students (more than 40%!) facing food insecurity across the nation, food pantries are having a difficult time keeping up with the demand. It is no different at WSU. During 2024–25, WSU’s pantries collectively facilitated over 58,000 student visits. The Pullman campus alone distributed an average of 25,000 pounds of food per month.

This year, all six WSU campuses will receive a share of what WSU raises to support their food pantries and food security programs. So, WSU fans across the system, here’s your chance to support students on your campus, show your Cougar spirit, and let the Huskies know the generosity of Cougars knows no bounds. Make a donation today and help WSU keep its title as Apple Cup Food Pantry Challenge champions.
