Canvas course content removal begins July 1

In accordance with university policy, Canvas course content is retained for five years following the end of the fiscal year in which a course was taught.

Starting July 1, 2025, the first deletion cycle will begin and course content from Spring 2020 and earlier will be permanently removed from Canvas. This will apply to credit and non-credit courses only.

Once removed, course content cannot be recovered. WSU instructors and departments are strongly encouraged review and export course materials they wish to retain before the scheduled deletion date.

Review instructions for exporting course content.

Following this removal, course content from subsequent terms will be removed according to WSU’s records retention schedule.
