WSU Faculty Member Earns Recognition

PULLMAN, Wash.–Washington State University music faculty member Charles Argersinger has been named 1997 Composer of the Year by the Washington State Music Teachers Association.
His “Dream Sequence,” a major work for solo piano, was commissioned last fall by the association. It was premiered earlier this year by WSU faculty member Gerald Berthiaume during a joint conference of the Washington and Oregon music teachers associations in Portland.
Argersinger, a member of the faculty since 1988, is director of the university’s annual New Music Festival and coordinates the theory and composition courses for the School of Music and Theatre Arts.
