PULLMAN, Wash.–The Washington State University Faculty Colloquium Series begins its fall 1997 programs Wednesday, Oct. 1, with Judy Meuth of the Women Studies Program discussing “Foremothers of Science.” The 4:10 p.m. program is set for the Compton Union Building’s Cascade Room and is open to the public without charge.
This fall, the series will address the historical background of women in science, the current situation, including remaining barriers and efforts to overcome them, and the personal perspective of one faculty member.
The series continues Oct. 22 with Sandy Cooper of the Department of Pure and Applied Mathematics, who will present “Building a Home for Women in Science.”
Richelle Allen-King of the Department of Geology finishes the colloquium series on Nov. 12 with “A Woman’s Place is Out Standing in Her Field: A Hydrogeologic Perspective.”
The Faculty Colloquium Series, sponsored by the Women’s Resource Center, provides an interdisciplinary forum for WSU faculty to share their research with colleagues and members of the community.
