Common Reading discussion on ways to use ‘How the Other Half Eats,’ July 9

The fifth in a series of opportunities to discuss strategies to use the 2024–25 Common Reading book, How the Other Half Eats, will be held on Tuesday, July 9, from 1 to 2 p.m. in CUE 518 on the Pullman campus. Those interested in considering use of the book for a course or program are invited to come talk about their ideas with colleagues and are welcome to drop into just one session, or several, as meets their interests.

The Common Reading website also includes links to a number of resources — a Teaching Guide, library guides, discussion questions, and a 2023 report on college student food insecurity in our state.

Thanks to generous funding from the Office of the Provost, all incoming first-year students on the Pullman, Tri-Cities, Vancouver, and Global campuses will be receiving paperback copies of the book. Information on faculty and student copies is also available on the Common Reading website.

The Notices and Announcements section is provided as a service to the WSU community for sharing events such as lectures, trainings, and other highly transactional types of information related to the university experience. Information provided and opinions expressed may not reflect the understanding or opinion of WSU. Accuracy of the information presented is the responsibility of those who submitted it. The self-uploaded posts are reviewed for compliance with state statutes and ethics guidelines but are not edited for spelling, grammar, or clarity.
