WSU economist Chris Clarke has made a name for himself by using TikTok to explain economic principles, and has since become the go-to person for national news outlets seeking context on the day’s economic developments.

University Marketing and Communications has launched its latest flight of ads geared toward telling the stories of the WSU system’s scholars and researchers to Washington residents as well as university leaders across the country.

The spring campaign kicked off last week with a story and video in Insider Higher Ed featuring nationally recognized WSU economist Chris Clarke. While Professor Clarke made a name for himself by using TikTok to explain economic principles, he has since become the go-to person for national news outlets seeking context on the day’s economic developments.

Other stories will focus on WSU’s work to address climate change and, in conjunction with Major League Baseball’s Opening Day, how the WSU Sports Science Lab is protecting our nation’s pastime.

In addition to Insider Higher Ed, ads will run in the Chronicle of Higher Education, and on social media in the Puget Sound region, and in Washington communities that host WSU campuses. The campaign will run through June 2024.

The Go Cougs Means campaign first launched statewide in January 2023.
