Braydon Morgan, an advertising major from Bainbridge Island, was recently named a 2024 Douglass-O’Connell Global Intern. The distinction earns Morgan an all-expenses-paid, eight-week internship in Dublin, Ireland this summer.

Morgan’s upcoming trip, which will take place June 14–Aug. 10, is the result of an innocuous email he received from WSU study-abroad program provider CIEE. The email invited students to apply for the internship; those who did would get a $1,500 credit toward a future study abroad program. After checking its authenticity with his boss at the WSU Center for Entrepreneurship and seeing the win-win (he plans to study abroad next spring, preferably in Barcelona), Morgan applied.

CIEE and co-sponsors Government of Ireland Emigrant Support Programme and African American Irish Diaspora Network liked what they saw and selected Morgan as one of only 15 students to be part of the 2024 cohort.

For the trip, Morgan will attend lectures, participate in extracurricular and networking activities and intern with a company he will be matched with according to his interests.

“While in Dublin, I want to foster new connections, immerse myself in Irish culture and work with a company in advertising and marketing to get first-hand, real-world experience,” Braydon said.

WSU International Programs Global Learning has partnered with CIEE for years and promoted the Dublin scholarship program through flyers and posters on campus. Students interested in studying abroad can always talk to Global Learning advisors, who will provide information about the many scholarships and funding opportunities available and help them through the application process.
