Recalled surge protectors

In October of 2013 there was a very large recall on APC surge protectors. About 15 million units were recalled. The recall reasoning was that the units may overheat, smoke and melt, and pose a fire hazard. The previous WSU Fire Safety and Compliance Officer had put out a notice of the surge protectors that were recalled. As I have been conducting inspections throughout different buildings on campus I have found these surge protectors in general work areas as well as office spaces. If you have one of these recalled surge protectors please discontinue using it. Schneider Electronics, the maker of the recalled products, is still offering replacement units. You will need the model and the serial number. The recall website was shut down in October and you will need to them call directly. The information is provided in the link above.

If you have questions about a surge protector you may have please reach out.
