Halloween starts early this year with the Washington State University’s Student American Veterinary Medical Association’s annual 5K Rabies Run at 10 a.m. Oct. 21 in front of Bustad Hall.
The zombie-themed run is open to everyone, but pets are not allowed. Register for $25 on or before Sept. 29 to receive a T-shirt. Registration without a T-shirt is $20 and is open until Oct. 20. All participants must fill out and return a registration form to Meg Knox at margaret.knox@wsu.edu or Claire Colombini at claire.colombini@wsu.edu.
Participants will race through an approximately 1-mile loop where zombies will attempt to steal flags from them. A prize drawing will be held at the end of the event. Each runner will receive one prize ticket for participating. Runners will receive an additional ticket for wearing a costume and for each flag they have after completing the zombie loop.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to the WSU Rabies Free Africa campaign.
Rabies is the deadliest zoonotic disease on the planet, killing more than 60,000 people annually.
Check-in starts at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 21.
