WSU SACNAS Chapter hosting guest speaker Dr. Sylvia Lopez-Vetrone, March 27

Dr. Sylvia Lopez-Vetrone will give a guest lecture at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 27. This event will be hybrid, with in‑person viewing in room 306 of Abelson Hall on the WSU Pullman campus, and over Zoom (995 0220 9715). Undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff from all campuses are welcome to attend.

Dr. Lopez-Vetrone is currently the Fletcher Jones Chair in Molecular Biology and Professor of Biology at Whittier College. She is an immunologist whose current research focuses on investigating the potential health and anti‑cancer benefits of cultural and popular nutraceuticals (plant-derived chemicals and extracts), validating nanoparticle DNA‑based biosensors for the detection of microbial pathogens, and assessing the potential environmental and health effects of nanoparticles.

The WSU Chapter of the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) will host the event. Please contact us via email with any questions (wsusacnas@gmail.com).
