Monday, March 13, is the submission deadline for applications for 2023 Smith Teaching and Learning grants and for Transformational Change Initiative (TCI) Grants for Advancing IDEA (inclusivity, diversity, equity, and access).
Faculty with innovative ideas to advance teaching and learning are invited to learn more about the awards, and to apply online.
Briefly, Smith Teaching and Learning grant proposals must address classroom culture and instructional pedagogy through innovative practices that improve student learning. Focus areas for new proposals must be on at least one of the following: student equity gaps, experiential learning, or aligning multi-section courses. Smith grants launched in 2000.
Transformational Change Initiative (TCI) Grants for Advancing IDEA fund collaborations and projects of varying scope. First awarded in 2022, these grants support projects that foster conversation, reflection, insight, and understanding of IDEA within the WSU community, support interactions between WSU campuses and communities, and produce materials and resources that advance IDEA work in all teaching and learning contexts.
Smith Teaching and Learning and TCI IDEA grants have similarities but are quite distinct, with key differences between the two.
