“We Who Believe in Freedom Dinner Set Thursday, Aug. 20

PULLMAN, Wash. — Reaney Park in Pullman will be the site of a Thursday, Aug. 20 dinner, part of the YWCA of Washington State University’s Eating on the Palouse community meal series featuring locally-grown food.
The 6-9 p.m. dinner is sponsored by the YWCA and Pullman’s Community Building through Diversity (CBTD) organization. Recipes of several cultures will be used to prepare food for the event. There will be entertainment featuring area musicians playing Hawaiian, Latin American, American folk and jazz, and rock and roll.
With the theme “We Who Believe in Freedom,” the dinner will highlight the social and racial justice commitments of the YWCA, CBTD and other human rights groups in the community, says Liza Rognas of the YWCA.
Free to the public, a $5 donation is suggested. Proceeds will benefit the YWCA Racial Justice Program, CBTD, Pullman’s Human Rights Commission and the Hate Free University program.
Meal co-sponsorships, for a minimum $50 donation, are available. For more information about the meal, including sponsorships, contact Liza Rognas, YWCA of WSU, 509/335-6849, Alice Coil, 509/335-6849, or Wes or Jim Weddell, 509/334-0737.
