Trymaine Gaither will offer his high-impact Mindfulness-Based Anti‑Racism training to interested WSU faculty this fall.

Gaither, the provost’s special assistant for inclusive excellence, leads small- and large-group discussions and prompts self-reflection on complex topics including micro-aggressions, unconscious bias and racism-related stress in the workplace. Participants will also be assigned to a cohort group and are expected to meet with that group at least three times outside of the training sessions.

Kersten Bergstrom, a lecturer in biological sciences at WSU Tri‑Cities, participated in Gaither’s Mindfulness-Based Anti‑Racism session a year ago.

“I’ve been to several types of diversity, equity, inclusion and justice trainings and this one was really unique in a variety of ways,” Bergstrom said. “I loved everything about it.”

The sessions take place via Zoom from noon to 2 p.m. The first session will take place on Oct. 4, the second on Oct. 11, and the third on Oct. 18.

There is no charge to participate. Interested faculty can register on the Office of the Provost’s website.
