Register for Science Talk ‘22

Explaining research to the public is more important now than ever before which is why one Washington State University professor heads up a conference each year specifically focused on science communication.

College of Veterinary Medicine Associate Professor Allison Coffin is president of Science Talk, a nonprofit designed to empower and inspire the science communication community to expand their potential and affect the world.

The annual conference, Science Talk ’22, will be held March 23 – 25 in person in Portland, Oregon and in real-time online. The theme is Making Connections: The Many Arms of Science Communication—otherwise known as the “Science Talktopus!”

The event will feature two days of presentations, workshops, expert panels, and networking opportunities. It is open to anyone interested in learning how to explain science better.

“We define ‘science communicators’ as anyone who engages in science communication and outreach activities—graduate students who write blogs, faculty who give talks, researchers, trainers, public information officers, science writers, museum and zoo professionals, YouTube content creators and more,” Coffin said.
