Faculty, staff, and students system-wide are invited to meet and help evaluate Elizabeth Chilton, the fourth of four finalists for the position of provost and executive vice president.

Since 2017, Chilton has served as dean of the Harpur College of Arts & Sciences at Binghamton University, part of the State University of New York. She will give a presentation and answer questions during an online session open to the WSU community from 1-2 p.m. on Monday, April 20. A university network id and password are required to attend.

As dean, Chilton leads all aspects of the academic mission of the college, as well as alumni engagement, development, and strategic planning. Harpur College supports the majority of the general education mission of the campus, the Writing Program, and dozens of cross-college graduate programs and accelerated programs. She oversees more than 40 academic departments and interdisciplinary programs, and more than 100 undergraduate majors and 60 graduate programs.

The largest and oldest college at Binghamton, Harpur College has more than 9,600 undergraduate students and 1,200 master’s and doctoral students.

Chilton received her master’s and Ph.D. from the Department of Anthropology at UMass Amherst. She previously held academic leadership positions at UMass Amherst, including associate vice chancellor for research and engagement, associate dean for research and programs in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Department Chair of Anthropology, and founder and former director of the Center for Heritage & Society.

Chilton will participate in interviews with search committee members, faculty, administrators, staff, and students during two days of Zoom-based meetings April 20 and 21.
