Nam Nguyen, a student at WSU’s Honors College and Carson College of Business, has been named a Forbes Under 30 Scholar.

Each year, Forbes selects 1,000 college and graduate students to receive free admission to the Forbes Under 30 Summit. The four-day event brings together young entrepreneurs and leaders in business, technology and innovation.

Rocket Mortgage by Quicken Loans is sponsoring this year’s summit, which takes place Oct. 27 to 30 in Detroit. Speakers include athlete and CEO Serena Williams, AOL cofounder Steve Case and other leaders in technology, entertainment, finance, fashion, food and philanthropy.

Nguyen will graduate in December with a double major in international business and marketing. He’s currently interning at NASA in aeronautics research and analysis. During his time at WSU, he has been the first and only student to study abroad on all seven continents.

Nguyen, a first-generation college student, is also active in entrepreneurship at WSU, where he was part the Harold Frank Engineering Entrepreneurship Institute.

Nguyen and other Frank Scholars are working on MeditationOrb, an interactive, sensor-driven mindfulness orb that collects biometric data to help meditation practitioners focus on their breathing.
