WSU Dining Services receives two recognitions for exceptional service

Dining Services at Washington State University has recently received two recognitions for their commitment to culinary excellence and customer service.

The National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH, Inc.) selected Dining Services as the organization of the month for October 2018. Student and Resident Hall Association President Alec Solemslie nominated Dining Services to receive this honor.

Solemslie’s nomination commended Dining Services for going “above and beyond their duties to increase inclusivity, cultural experience, sustainability, cooperation, and feedback systems.” The specific efforts that Solemslie cited include the dining team’s commitment to creating special events that provide a change in culinary style and an opportunity to work directly with student groups to celebrate various cultures. This includes a recent event held in collaboration with ASWSU Kuh-Ah-Mah, which celebrated the food and culture of various Native American traditions. Other events included a Palouse Harvest celebration that featured fresh ingredients from nearby farms.

Other efforts cited in the nomination include Dining Services’ collaboration with RHA to create a working group that will help increase communication between students and the dining team.

Recently, Dining Services also received recognition from peta2 for its commitment to providing outstanding vegan food options to diners. peta2, which is PETA’s youth program, recognized Dining Services for “going above and beyond to provide all students with exceptional vegan food.”

Enhancing and expanding plant-based dining options across campus continues to be a top priority for Dining Services.
