WSU Jazz Ensembles to Perform

PULLMAN, Wash. — An evening of jazz is planned for Feb. 8 when the
Washington State University Jazz Big Band and Vocal Jazz Ensemble,
VOJAZZ, perform at WSU’s Bryan Hall Auditorium.

VOJAZZ will begin the 8 p.m. program with solo vocalists Julie Silvera-Jensen
and Jamie Miller and saxophonist Mike Lukich.

Included in the program will be the premiere of “Blue Hope,” written by
Richard Freeman-Toole, an artist who has been an influential contributor to
music in the Palouse region, said Gregory Yasinitsky, WSU coordinator of jazz
studies.

Also on the program will Yasinitsky’s arrangement of “Ask Me Now,” by
Thelonious Monk. Soloists will include trumpeter Joe Potter; bassist Gus
Kambeitz; and saxophonists Scott Ryckman, Jeremy Hamilton, Sparky
LaPlante, Eric Skidmore and Clayton Daffron.

The concert will conclude with an arrangement of “You are My Sunshine.” The
program is open to the public without charge.
