Kelley Westhoff has been named executive director for budget, planning and analysis at Washington State University.
Westhoff, who served as the university’s operating budget director for the last four‑and‑a‑half years, began serving in her new role Nov. 1.
She will oversee WSU’s budget operations as the university continues towards its goal of financial stability. Westhoff will also play a leadership role as the university modernizes its electronic financial systems which will streamline and improve the budgeting process.
“Kelley is a first-generation college student who learned firsthand the value of a college education,” said Stacy Pearson, vice president for finance and administration. “Professionalism and integrity are qualities Kelley embraces and those who interact with her realize she is one who listens and has a good sense of humor.”
The university’s longtime chief budget officer, Joan King, retired in October. Westhoff and Pearson will share in covering the roles, responsibilities and duties handled by King.
Westhoff started her career in Pullman at the WSU Foundation as an area finance officer then moved to the WSU Budget Office as an analyst in 2008. She was promoted to budget officer in 2011 and then operating director in 2014.
Overall, Westhoff has 17 years of experience in higher education accounting and budgeting. She said she enjoys making complex financial information understandable, working collaboratively to solve problems, and immersing herself in a good Excel spreadsheet.
