Cougar Climb bollards set for re-installation behind hydraulics lab

With the impending re-opening of College Avenue, the Cougar Climb bollards are set to be reinstalled on the uphill section of Reaney Way behind Albrook Hydraulics Laboratory. The bollards will close off all motor vehicle traffic other than WSU fire and police emergency vehicles.

All WSU exempt vehicles are restricted from entering this closed area as well, with the exception of WSU fire and police vehicles. Any private or university vehicle that violates the closure will be subject to potential fines by WSU Police.

The Cougar Climb is a bicycle and pedestrian pathway, and the risk of conflict with fast moving vehicles entering this pathway, coupled with the blind corners, can create hazardous conditions for bicyclists and pedestrians using the pathway.

Bicyclists and motorists alike may not be familiar with Washington State laws regarding bike lanes, shared-use lanes, pathways and other related rules and laws. If you are not familiar with them, please review the  Washington State bicycle laws for both vehicle drivers and bicyclists.

Also feel free to stop in the Transportation Services building where pocket Washington State Bicycle Law guides will be available from the Washington State Department of Transportation, as well as a guide for everyday bicycling presented by the Cascade Bike Club.

For more bike resources, visit the Bike & Walk page on our website.

If you have additional questions regarding the Cougar Climb or want to talk about biking on campus, please contact WSU Transportation Services at transportation@wsu.edu.
