Marty Dickinson, a Spokane marketing executive who played a central role in the creation of Washington State University’s Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, has been appointed to the WSU Board of Regents by Gov. Jay Inslee.

A WSU graduate, Dickinson has held executive positions with the Spokane Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Spokane Partnership, and Sterling Savings-Umpqua Bank. She chairs the WSU Medical School Advisory Board and spearheaded the successful Leaders for a WSU Medical School effort to change the state charter to let WSU teach medicine.

She served on the University District board of directors, helping create the 501c3 through which the Spokane higher education district operates.

Dickinson replaces retired Spokane businessman and developer Don Barbieri, who had served as a WSU regent since 2015.
