BREMERTON, Wash. – Learn about forests and streams on the Kitsap Peninsula by taking the six-week Stream Stewards course, July 19–Aug 23.
Classroom sessions will be held each Thursday at Eagle’s Nest in Bremerton and Island Lake in Silverdale. The course costs $50, plus a $2.74 online service fee. The course fee includes class materials and scholarships are available.
WSU Kitsap Extension and its partners present the course to learn about native plants, forests, wetlands, aquatic insects, and more. They will also discuss how people interact with and protect these resources. Several field trips during the course will explore nature on the peninsula.
The training includes opportunities to connect with experts and others who share a love for the outdoors. There will also be opportunities to volunteer for activities like tree planting, streamside restoration, stream sampling, and teaching others at events like Salmon in the Classroom.
Anyone completing the training, and who volunteers 25 hours, will earn a WSU Stream Stewards certificate of completion, hat, and name badge.
