Apple Cup Game Ball Shuttled by Kappa Sigs

PULLMAN, Wash.–The game ball for Saturday’s Apple Cup will leave Martin Stadium on the Washington State University campus Wednesday (Nov. 19) at 9 a.m. in the custody of Kappa Sigma members conducting the fraternity’s annual cancer fund raising event.
This is the 19th year the Kappa Sigmas from WSU and the University of Washington have run the football across the state for the annual classic. They hope to raise more than $20,000 for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, according to spokesman Jeff Evans.
From Pullman, runners will travel through Colfax, then west on Highway 26 toward Othello. They will pass through Moses Lake, Ephrata, Quincy and finally to Wenatchee where they’ll complete the handoff to their fraternity brothers from the University of Washington to finish in Husky Stadium.
Evans said 67 WSU members will take part in the shuttle, running in time blocks from 15 minutes to two hours. They expect to arrive in Wenatchee, 200 miles away, about 1 p.m. Thursday.
