Registration open for science communications conference

science talk 2018 logo VANCOUVER, Wash. – Registration is now open for Science Talk, a science communication conference with a focus on increasing science’s impact in society through better communication. The conference will be Thursday-Friday, March 1-2, at Oregon Convention Center in Portland.

“Science is everywhere, in policy and in the media,” said Allison Coffin, assistant professor of neuroscience at WSU Vancouver and executive board chair for Science Talk. “We think it’s vital that scientists are armed with the best techniques and tools to explain their work clearly and concisely. Science Talk brings all disciplines and professions together and give scientists the toolbox they need.”

The conference will include panel talks on hot topic issues in science communication, workshops covering the tools of the trade, and a poster session.

The early bird registration rate is $250 for professionals and $75 for students and trainees. Rates will go up on Thursday, Feb. 1. Science Talk is sponsored by Washington State University Vancouver, Oregon Health & Science University and the Burroughs Wellcome Fund.
