Faculty led workshop Tuesday: Responding to Student Writing

Faculty and instructors: Join Lisa Johnson-Shull, Associate Director of WSU Writing Programs for Less is More: Strategies for Efficiently and Effectively Responding to Student Writing.

This Faculty Led Workshop will be held tomorrow: Tuesday, Sept. 26, from at 3:30-5 p.m. at The Spark 102 or via live stream on You Tube. Register through Skillsoft to attend or view this workshop sponsored by the Office of the Provost and Academic Outreach and Innovation (AOI).

Teachers who assign writing in their courses often spend an inordinate amount of time responding to student’s writing, but evidence suggests that students do not necessarily make good use of teacher comments. This workshop will focus on the creation and implementation of observational and evaluative commentary that provides feedback and feedforward to student writers, but does so in organized, scaffolded and systematic ways that are accessible to students and not overly time consuming for faculty.
