PULLMAN, Wash. – Teams are forming for the regional Future City Competition for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students from Washington, Idaho and Montana, which will be hosted by Washington State University on Saturday, Jan. 14.
For more information or to sign up to participate, go to https://futurecity.org/region/competition-day-5. Teams that win at WSU qualify for sectional competition in Seattle. From there, winners go on to nationals in Washington, D.C., where more than $10,000 in prizes will be awarded.
Future City Competition is a national program sponsored by the engineering community to promote technological literacy and engineering to middle school students. The program fosters an interest in math, science and engineering through hands-on, real-world applications.
“There is no age too young to begin designing a way to make the world a better place,” said Cara Morton, an instructor in WSU’s School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the WSU competition coordinator. “This program introduces students to the field of engineering and opens their eyes to the fact that someone designed everything they use in their lives today.”
