Nov. 7: Power outage recovery, smart meters discussed

chen-ching-liu-webPULLMAN, Wash. – The reliability and resilience of power distribution systems will be presented by Washington State University professor Chen-Ching Liu at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, in Goertzen Hall 21 as the free, public Anjan Bose Outstanding Researcher Lecture.

Liu will discuss the use and practical implementation of smart meters and remote control recovery after power outages. He is an international pioneer in development of decision support systems for power systems and power system restoration.

The Boeing Distinguished Professor of Electrical Engineering, Liu received the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture’s outstanding researcher award this year. He is the founding director of WSU’s Energy Systems Innovation Center. He is a recipient of an IEEE Third Millennium Medal and is a member of the Washington State Academy of Sciences.

The annual Anjan Bose Outstanding Researcher Award was created to honor Bose for his service to the Voiland College as dean.
