Sept. 19-23: Leadership Academy fits training to student

Semi-Bird-webRICHLAND, Wash. – Business professionals will learn how to become effective leaders during Washington State University Tri-Cities’ first Leadership Academy Sept. 19-23 at the Consolidated Information Center (CIC), room 210/212.

“Leadership in the 21st Century” will help professionals at all levels develop their natural style of leadership by focusing on personal and professional intelligence. Through cutting-edge curriculum, participants will learn the necessary tools to become highly effective leaders.

The program costs $1,995 and runs 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Sept 19-22 and 9 a.m.-noon Sept. 23. Prior to attending, participants will be administered the EQi-2.0 leadership assessment as part of the workshop curriculum – a $500 value.

“Emotionally intelligent and transformational leaders are the nexus to a high-performing organization,” said Becky Chamberlain, director of continuing education and summer session at WSU Tri-Cities. “This is why we have developed workshops that focus on leadership skills that are based on an individual’s natural traits and abilities. We fit our training to the student.”

Course instructor Misipati “Semi” Bird is internationally recognized as a dynamic public speaker and educator. He has more than 23 years of military service, including as an Army Special Forces Green Beret where he received the Bronze Star for valor and the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat.

He has held several senior positions in training and leadership development for sectors including government, banking and education. He holds certifications in emotional intelligence, behavior analysis, human resources, organizational performance and Lean Six Sigma. He is an Executive in Residence at WSU.
