Weather Spotter Training Class Coming to the Palouse

WSU Emergency Management in partnership with Whitman County Emergency Management brings the National Weather Service’s (NWS) Weather Spotter Training Class to the Palouse.  This Weather Spotter Training Class will be held Monday, November 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lighty/French Administration Building, Room 405, on the Pullman campus. Parking is available in the lot between the WSU Vet School and French Administration off Grimes Way. The training session is free and open to the public.

Residents, including students are invited to learn about being the “eyes and ears” of the National Weather Service.  Local weather reports coupled with radar, satellite and other data has enabled the NWS to issue more timely and accurate warnings and statements for different types of hazardous weather. Join us in learning about NWS operations, the basics of thunderstorm development, severe thunderstorm structure, flash floods, high winds, winter storms and spotter procedures.
