Nominations Sought for Faculty Who Assist Students with Disabilities

PULLMAN, Wash. — Nomination forms are available for students to nominate a
Washington State University instructor who has helped students with disabilities succeed in
their courses. Nominations must be received by March 1.
A committee of students will select the winner who has demonstrated a positive attitude
toward students with disabilities and has insured the most appropriate accommodations
possible.
“The Faculty of the Year winner should be a faculty member who does not cause a disability
student to stand out while being accommodated,”said Jolene Crancer, president of the Disability
Awareness Association. “The instructor should be someone who is fair, just and understanding,
yet retains academically professional standards.”
The winner will be recognized at the annual banquet sponsored by the Disability Awareness
Association in March to celebrate Disability Awareness Week.
Applications are available at the Disability Resource Center, Administration Annex, Room
206.
