Lync 2013 provides instant messaging for faculty and staff

Information Services will be migrating existing Lync 2010 customers to a new implementation of Lync 2013 on Wednesday, July 23.  Prior to the upgrade, individuals currently using a Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS) client will need to replace the OCS client with Lync 2013 supported client software.  OCS and Lync are applications that some staff and faculty use to instant message on campus.

The OCS client software will no longer function after the migration to Lync 2013 is complete on Wednesday, July 23, 2014.

The features provided by Lync 2013 will be the same as those currently provided by Lync 2010 and the soon to be retired OCS client, which currently includes instant messaging and presence for desktop clients.  All current WSU employees are eligible to use this service.
