PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University continues its popular “College
Knowledge for the Mind” seminar series with a session Oct. 15 at Lakeside High School in
Plummer, Idaho.
The “College Knowledge” seminars are designed to provide students with information on
the college application process and to encourage them to attend WSU or other universities or
colleges, said Ch’n’na Allen, WSU Multicultural Student Services recruitment coordinator. High
school students, as well as their parents or guardians, are invited to take part.
Keynote speaker for the event at Lakeside, which begins at 1 p.m., will be Jeannie Givens,
former state of Idaho legislator and a member of the Coeur d’ Alene Tribe.
Scheduled to attend the seminar are George Asan, Plummer-Worley School District
superintendent, and Bob McGrew, Lakeside principal.
Some of the students attending the Lakeside seminar will be invited to the WSU campus on
Oct. 30 to take part in additional college preparation programs, said Allen. In addition, some
students taking part in “College Knowledge” held in Washington and Idaho during the current
1999-2000 academic year will be invited to WSU in the spring for a seminar-ending event.
