PULLMAN, Wash. — A counterfeiting investigation has led to the arrest of two Washington
State University students. The men were arraigned Friday, Oct. 8, on state charges of forgery and
conspiracy to commit forgery.
WSU police arrested 18-year-old Steven Silva in Pullman. The second student, Ryne A.
Heinz, also 18, turned himself in at Prosser. Each was later released on a $10,000 bond.
The men are accused of passing fake $20 bills on campus and in the Pullman/Moscow area.
The police investigation included a search of dorm rooms and computer equipment believed to
have been used for making counterfeit bills.
United States Secret Service Agents assisted WSU Police in the investigation. At this time
federal authorities are considering possible additional charges.
More arrests are possible as the investigation continues.
Merchants and the public are asked to report any suspicious currency to their local police or
to the U.S. Secret Service.
