Nov. 7: Literary flight, a writer’s adventures at 3,000 feet

WSU Visiting Writer Series presents writer and editor W. Scott Olsen on the WSU Pullman campus, Thursday, Nov. 7, to read and discuss his literary work at 5 p.m. in the Museum of Art/WSU. The event is free to the public. Olsen is the author of over ten books and his essays have appeared in the Noteable list of The Best American Essays seven times. His most recent book, Prairie Sky: A Pilot’s Reflections on Flying and the Grace of Altitude, has won high praise for prose that is “full of grace, style, lyricism, and sharp cloud-level insight.”

Prairie Sky looks at how investigating the skies, and what the earth is like from the sky, creates a change in one’s physical and personal viewpoint. Ascent, the literary magazine Olsen has edited for two decades, is one of the oldest and best established journals in the country.
