Delta Blues Singer Del Rey Comes to WSU July 10

PULLMAN, Wash. — Del Rey, delta blues singer and guitarist, will give a free solo performance open to the public at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, in the Bryan Hall theater at Washington State University.

Rey of Seattle is one of the best-known blues performers in the Northwest. She specializes in the rarely-heard music of women delta blues artists such as Memphis Minnie.

Rey delivers her trademark hard-driving acoustic guitar style on a metal resonator guitar. She is one of few performers specializing in the historic instrument and keeps the tradition alive by writing new songs built on the blues legacy.

The WSU Summer Recreation Committee and WSU School of Music and Theatre Arts are sponsoring the world music concert.
