David Wang Receives 2001 WSU Spokane Faculty Excellence Award

SPOKANE, Wash. — David C. Wang, associate professor of architecture, has been awarded the 2001 Washington State University Spokane Faculty Excellence Award for outstanding teaching, research and community service.

Wang, who has been with WSU Spokane since 1997, is coordinator of the Master of Science in Architecture program in Spokane. He is co-author, with Linda Groat of the University of Michigan, of “Architectural Research Methods,” to be released by John Wiley and Sons in November. It will be the first book ever published on architectural research.

Bill Gray, WSU Spokane campus executive officer and dean, cited Wang’s involvement in community engagement, with his development of the annual Interdisciplinary Community Design Charrette and his work with historic neighborhoods, local planning, and the Interdisciplinary Design Institute’s lectures and events.

Wang holds doctoral and master’s degrees in architecture from the University of Michigan and the Master of Architecture as well as a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a licensed architect in Pennsylvania and Michigan and taught architecture at several East Coast institutions before joining WSU.
