Washington State University has launched a new website designed to serve military-affiliated students across the university’s six campuses.

The WSU Veterans and Military-Affiliated Students homepage is the first of its kind, with the university formerly relying upon several websites to communicate with military-affiliated students on separate campuses.

The intention behind the new website is to unite WSU’s web assets relating to veteran and military-affiliated students, leading users to system and campus-specific information from a central location.

“The idea was to create an online ‘home base’ of sorts where current and future military-affiliated Cougs can get important information about educational benefits and other issues,” said Jaime Nolan, associate vice president for Community, Equity, and Inclusive Excellence. “The campuses still have separate websites, but now we have a site for military-affiliated students on all campuses too.”

The website was designed by WSU’s Student Veteran Task Force, a group of WSU staff members led by Nolan. The task force’s mission is to meet the unique needs of WSU’s military-affiliated students, including veterans, active duty servicemembers, National Guard/reservists, and military family members.

“Robust communication is vital to our work serving military-affiliated students,” said Nolan. “This new website will be a great asset in accomplishing that mission.”
