This holiday season, members of the Cougar community are asked to be vigilant to help mitigate the spread of COVID‑19.
WSU President Kirk Schulz and Provost and Executive Vice President Elizabeth Chilton delivered that message in a letter to the campus community Wednesday.

“It is tempting to relax safety measures around the family and friends we typically spend time with during breaks and holidays,” the WSU leaders wrote. “But COVID‑19 is overwhelming many of our communities.”
Schulz and Chilton asked Cougs to wear face masks, wash their hands and watch their distance as well as minding public health guidelines in the weeks ahead. Students who are planning to leave Pullman for the holidays are asked to get a COVID‑19 test prior to doing so. They are also asked not to return to Pullman until the start of the spring semester.
“We’re all familiar with the saying that Cougs take care of Cougs,” Schulz and Chilton wrote. “Now—more than ever—is the time to demonstrate that principle in action. Do so for each other and for the communities for which we live and work.”
