VANCOUVER, Wash. – Washington State University Vancouver is now offering in-state tuition for spring and fall 2021 to students who reside in Oregon’s Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties through a new program called the PDX Tuition Advantage.

“COVID-19 and Oregon’s historic wildfires in September caused many students to rethink their plans to leave the area to attend college,” said Chancellor Mel Netzhammer. “As a land-grant university with access as part of its mission, we wanted to find a way to make more options available to more students.”

Paying in-state tuition through the PDX Tuition Advantage will save qualifying students almost $15,000 a year. This year, the out-of-state cost of attendance at WSU Vancouver is $26,704. The in-state cost of attendance is $11,761. The deadline for students to apply for spring 2021 is Nov. 15. The deadline for students to apply for fall 2021 is Jan. 31. WSU Vancouver’s normal admission requirements apply.

As one of six campuses of the Washington State University system, many students choose WSU Vancouver for its big-school resources and small-school environment. It’s the kind of place where instructors know their students by name, and students know they matter.

Oregon residents may choose WSU Vancouver because it offers programs not readily available in the Portland metropolitan area. Neuroscience, for instance, is a draw for students who plan to enter a health-related field. It’s a good foundation for getting into graduate or professional school to become a doctor, dentist, pharmacist, veterinarian or other health practitioner.

Unlike many universities, undergraduate students at WSU Vancouver have the unique opportunity to work in research labs and on research projects with one or more of the university’s 200 doctoral faculty—many of whom are nationally or internationally recognized experts in their fields.

Some of WSU Vancouver’s most popular majors such as business, and digital technology and culture offer hands-on learning that prepares students for their chosen career—and makes them sought after by employers. WSU Vancouver also offers a huge variety of internships that offer real-world experience and the opportunity to network in the business community.
