PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State University Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art is proud to present an ONLINE 2020 MFA Thesis Exhibition.
The digital exhibition is the first of its kind for the museum and will be online from March 31 – May 9. Each artist will be featured in an online gallery via the museum’s website. During the course of the online exhibition, there will be additional content shared via the Schnitzer Museum’s social media channels, including virtual receptions for many of the artists.
This annual showcase is the culmination of two or more years work by the Master of Fine Arts graduate candidates. With its wide range of art-making approaches, the thesis exhibition provides a stimulating experience for faculty, students and museum visitors.
This year’s MFA candidates are Kelsey Baker, Mohsen Bchir, Azzah Sultan, Chadchom Cheskhun, Richie Masias, Harry Mestyanek, and Qarthian.
Traveling from many places to join the cohort at WSU, these student-artists have engaged in an intense two-year interdisciplinary studio program. They met regularly with faculty members for group and individual critiques.
Visiting artists and scholars provided diverse one-on-one insight into their creative work. Each artist sharpened their confidence, convictions, and skills. Their MFA Thesis Exhibition is a focused conclusion, yet it also marks an exciting transition toward their professional careers.
Funding has been provided by the Samuel H. & Patricia W. Smith Arts Endowment Fund, and the Members of the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU.
Temporary closure
The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU is located in the Crimson Cube (on Wilson Road across from Martin Stadium and the CUB) on the WSU Pullman campus.
With WSU’s COVID-19 efforts, & Gov. Inslee’s statewide shutdowns, the museum is temporarily closed to visitors for the semester. Per the Provost’s approval, all public events at the museum during this time have been canceled.
