More than just the final score hung in the balance when Washington State University’s Men’s Hockey Club played Boise State University recently.
The two teams agreed to use the game on Nov. 1, played in front of 3,200 fans in Century Link Arena in downtown Boise, as an opportunity to raise funds for the Metro Meals on Wheels Program.
The Cougar players went all-in on the effort, raising $700 themselves by donating an autographed jersey for the live auction and even contributing their own money to the cause. Cougar Head Coach Chris Soriano’s family matched their donations. The two teams raised a total of $24,000 for Meals on Wheels.
“Although we didn’t get the win we wanted in the game, it was a fantastic event and a good memory for the team,” said Soriano.
