PULLMAN, Wash. – Andrea Miller and Bruce Pinkleton have been named as final candidates for the dean’s position at the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University, said Provost Dan Bernardo.
The announcement represents the results of a comprehensive national search and interview process by Bernardo and a university search advisory committee.
Miller will meet with faculty, staff, students and administrators Feb. 12-13 at WSU, with a public presentation scheduled for 3:30-5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, at Goertzen Hall Auditorium, Room 21.
Pinkleton will meet with WSU faculty, staff, students and administrators on Feb. 15-16, with a public presentation scheduled for 3:30-5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at Goertzen Hall Auditorium, Room 21. \
The WSU community is invited to the public presentations, in which the candidates will outline their respective visions for the Murrow College of Communication. Each presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session. More information regarding the public presentations can be found on the Office of the Provost executive search website.
Miller is currently a professor and associate dean for undergraduate studies and administration in the Manship School of Mass Communication at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism and has been a faculty member at LSU since 2003. Miller teaches courses in crisis communication, broadcast and multimedia journalism.
Pinkleton is currently interim dean of the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication. He earned his Ph.D. in Communication/Mass Media from Michigan State University, and has been a faculty member at WSU since 1993. Pinkleton’s research focuses on health promotion, media literacy and decision making in the digital era.
