April 18: Student talks about academia’s role in recovery

just-mercyPULLMAN, Wash. – The role that education and work in academia have played in his recovery from drug and alcohol addiction will be candidly discussed by an experimental psychology doctoral student at 5 p.m. Monday, April 18, in CUE 203 as part of the common reading at Washington State University.

Noel Vest has dedicated his life to helping others overcome addiction. In “The Downward Spiral of Addiction and the Journey Out: Prison, Academia and Recovery,” he will discuss his path through the criminal justice system and the redeeming role that academia has played in his spirited story.

His talk is tied to the common reading book, “Just Mercy” by Bryan Stevenson. Learn more at http://CommonReading.wsu.edu.
