Sample the science of white wine tasting

Conducting a sensory evaluation of wines is one step in graduate student Laura E. Hill’s academic road to earning a master of science degree in food science. She is studying in the WSU-University of Idaho School of Food Science.
Starting in September, when photos for this soundslide were taken, and continuing Oct. 1, 6 and 8, the call is out to WSU community members age 21 and older to participate in a panel to evaluate white wines.
Those coming between 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on those days to the Food Sensory Evaluation Laboratory (Food Science & Human Nutrition 146) will sign consent forms and commit about 15 minutes to tasting/evaluating wines.
Between samples, evaluators clean their palates with water and unsalted crackers.
In addition to the satisfaction of assisting in Hill’s research project, each evaluator is rewarded with a Ferdinand’s Ice Cream Shoppe coupon.
To participate, just come to the laboratory. No registration in advance is needed.
Hill is advised by Food Science faculty member and sensory scientist Carolyn Ross.
If you have questions, contact Hill, hill6@wsu.edu, or Ross, cfross@wsu.edu or 335-2438.
