PULLMAN – The WSU Cougars baseball team is finishing out the season in pursuit of its first NCAA post-season berth in 17 years, as the Cougs take on the UW Huskies at Bailey-Brayton Field Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

WSU currently holds second place in the Pac-10 with a 28-22 overall record, 16-8 Pac-10. The UW, is in fifth place with a 25-27 overall record, 13-11 in the Pac-10.
 
Tuesday evening, WSU dropped a tight nonconference game with Gonzaga, 8-7, in Spokane.
 
The three UW games are slated for:
  • 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 22
  • 2 p.m. Saturday, May 23
  • Noon Sunday, May 24
 
Pac-10 Player of the Week
 
Earlier this week, WSU senior outfielder Jared Prince was named Pacific-10 Conference Player of the Week for May 11-17.
 
Prince batted .478 (11-for-23) with a home run and 10 RBI to lead Washington State to a 4-2 record last week. The Poulsbo native was 3-for-4 with three RBI in the Cougars’ 10-2 win over Oregon, May 11. He added a home run and three RBI in a 10-5 victory over Portland, May 12.
 
He was 6-for-10 with four RBI in a three-game series at Oregon State in which WSU won two games. He was a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and three, two-out RBI in a 7-6 victory, May 15 and had two hits and a RBI in a 7-6 win, May 17. For the week, he posted a .696 slugging percentage and .556 on-base percentage.
 
This is the first weekly honor for Prince and the second for WSU this season. Freshman Derek Jones won the award for the week of March 23-29.
