PULLMAN – Sigma Iota, the student hospitality association at WSU’s School of Hospitality Business Management, presents the 24th annual Winefest on Friday, April 11.
The annual wine tasting event, traditionally held during WSU’s Dad’s Weekend, is now part of WSU’s Mom’s Weekend activities.
“We’re looking forward to another outstanding Winefest this year,” said Kevin Bennett, Sigma Iota advisor. “Winefest showcases premiere Northwest wines as well as our own Sigma Iota organization, whose members plan and execute the entire event.”
There will be two sessions for wine tasting: the first will take place from 5-7 p.m. and the second from 8-10 p.m. Both sessions will be held at the Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Events Center, 1825 Schweitzer Drive, in Pullman.
A free shuttle service will be available to and from the event center, leaving from the Bookie turnaround on the WSU campus.
The first shuttle run will depart the Bookie at 4:40 p.m. and the last return will leave the event center at 10:20 p.m. Parking is also available at the Event Center.
Winefest also features a silent auction. Attendees have the opportunity to bid on many exciting items including: a Michael Kors handbag, one night in a king suite plus breakfast at the Chrysalis Inn & Spa, a gift certificate at Outback and more.
Winefest is an annual fundraising event presented and coordinated by student members of Sigma Iota. Proceeds from the event help fund scholarships, guest lectures and other educational opportunities for Sigma Iota members.
Tickets for the event are $30 per person and are available to ages 21 and older.
Tickets can be purchased online, at the door prior to each session, or from various on- and off- campus locations. Ticket prices include 10 tasting tickets and a commemorative wine glass.
