Search firm chosen; public meetings Feb. 26

The WSU community will share ideas on the search for a new provost at two public meetings Feb. 26 in Pullman and via videoconference.

The WSU provost and executive vce president search committee, chaired by Warwick Bayly, dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, will seek ideas on the search and on important qualifications for the next provost and executive vice president. A search firm representative also will be present.

The meetings will be noon-1 p.m. and 4-5 p.m., both in Lighty 405. The sessions will be available via videoconference to WSU campuses in Spokane, Tri-Cities and Vancouver and to other sites across the state.

The committee has retained Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates of California and Pennsylvania to assist in the provost search process, Bayly said. Alberto Pimentel is the principal consultant for this search.

“The consultant will play a role in identifying and recruiting candidates for the position and provide information on candidates to the search committee,” Bayly said.

The committee is conducting a national search for the successor to Provost and Executive Vice President Robert C. Bates, who announced in mid-January that he plans to step down July 1.
