Information Technology Forum to go on March 12-14

WSU information technology staff will have the opportunity to gain professional development and networking opportunities by attending the second annual WSU Information Technology Forum, titled “Being Digital in 2006: Perils and Possibilities,” March 12-14.

Although the event is free, attendees must register in advance on the Information Systems website, http://infotech.wsu.edu/vpis/ITSForumReg.asp. The deadline to register is March 3.

The forum will feature keynote speaker Dr. John Lawson, the former vice president for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer at Tulane University. Lawson’s presentation, titled “At Katrina’s Center, the Planning for vs. the Reality of a Disaster–the Lessons Learned,” will take place at 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 12 in Todd Hall. A reception will follow at 7 p.m.

The forum also offers a day and a half of activities, including two half-day workshops on Microsoft SharePoint technologies and IT professional development, concurrent sessions, breakout sessions, a cyber threat briefing by the FBI and a session on virtual reality worlds. Forum presenters include WSU IT employees and professionals from the technology industry. There will be a vendor session on Monday afternoon.
